Vassy Win 3-1

Another Southwell Win for Ulis De Vassy

A terrific week for the in-form yard as Ulis De Vassy won the second valuable race for the stable in the last 3 days.

Another well timed and confident ride from Patrick Cowley who gets on so well with this horse. Well done to the whole team on what has been a fantastic season….

ULIS DE VASSY is a dual previous course winner who showed improved form when fourth in a better race at Carlisle three days earlier. He was able to track the pace and attack in the straight on the contrasting ground and came through for a narrow victory. It was his first win from 12 starts over this longer trip.

Skipping On win 4-1

Awesome Skipping On !

What a horse and what a great training performance by Laura ! To keep Skipping On fresh and enthusiastic after a hard race just 9 days ago is a terrific achievement.

This was another emphatic victory, his fourth of the season and another large hike in the handicap can be expected after this 11 length romp !

He seems to thrive on stiff tracks such as Towcester and Carlisle which are very similar with tough , uphill finishes.

SKIPPING ON jumped boldly in front, if markedly out to his left, and was fully in control over the last three fences. Officially 4lb ahead of his mark here, and back in grade, he has had a fine spell in recent weeks and seems just as effective over this trip or 2m.

Skipping On Towcester 290318-3

Valuable Win for Skipping On

The yard continued it’s excellent season as Skipping On defied the handicapper to win his third race of the current campaign. He clearly likes Towcester and gets on extremely well with 5lb claimer Patrick Cowley.

Having won by 14 lengths, Laura will be nervously awaiting his new mark when he is re-assessed next Tuesday.

SKIPPING ON still looked on a good mark and was always going to be hitting the line hard having won pver 4f further last time. He was given a well-timed ride and galloped clear late.

Skippy Win-1

Southwell Win for Skipping On

Another raceday, another winner for the in form Laura Morgan Racing Team. Skipping On Winning his second race of the season in gutsy fashion in testing , post freeze-up conditions at Southwell.

The yard is earning a fine record at the Nottinghamshire track with Ulis De vassy having already won twice there this year.

Later on in the Maiden Hurdle, Haasab ran a promising second race over hurdles to finish 3rd.

SKIPPING ON, despite not totally convincing over his fences again, got on top at the last and doubled his career tally. The longer trip was clearly no issue on this tight track and he does handle bad ground without much fuss. He's reportedly now to be given a break.

QUOTES: Skipping On has done the majority of his winning at stiff tracks like Towcester over two but we stepped him up to two and half here. He's had a lot of quick runs so I think we'll give him a nice break now - Laura Morgan, trainer.

New Website Launched

Whilst a lot of you have already been looking at Lauras new website (1890 blog hits at time of writing this !) it is only now that I can say the site is finished. Although of course it will never  be truly finished as we will be adding to it and updating it all the time.

It has been a very exciting time to be involved with the yard and fantastic to be able to report and document all the recent successes…Keep them coming Laura !

Vassy S W 2-1

Another win for Ulis De Vassy

The stables fine run of form continued at Southwell today when Ulis De Vassy won his second race of the month at the Nottinghamshire track. He didn’t leave it quite so late this time and pulled away on the run in to win readily by 4 lengths. Well ridden once again by young claimer Patrick Cowley, and much deserved success for long time supporter of the yard, Paul Read.

ULIS DE VASSY stayed on strongly and gained his second C&D win of the month. Outpaced when the race developed, he soon found his stride and sealed the deal with a fine leap at the last. The drying ground was very much in his favour and he goes especially well for this claiming rider (2-3).

Teds Brother -1

Unlucky Ted

Ted’s Brother was very unlucky to be disqualified and placed 2nd after a hard earned “victory” at Chelmsford on Thursday evening. He was given a great ride by Antonia Peck who switched him off the rail just at the right time to avoid getting boxed in and then timed her run to perfection to get up close home to win by a nose.

I was a steward for 10 years before I started training and having viewed the head on replays I am hopeful that Laura will have a good chance of overturning the Stewards decision on appeal. It was in my opinion the runner up (red cap) who drifted off the running rail,  causing the 3rd horse to bump into Ted and knock his hind quarters out to one side.

Fingers crossed !

Vassy wins at Southwell

Vassy at Home on the Gallops

Ulis De Vassy became the second winner for the yard in just 5 days. Held up in rear by Jockey Patrick Cowley, he looked to be booked for a place at best running to the last. However he found a devastating turn of foot to cross the line a length clear and going away. This win will do his confidence a lot of good and he remains on a good mark compared to some of his old form.

A great result for the hard working team at home and for Owner Paul Read who has been a loyal supporter since Laura started training on the retirement of Chris Bealby.

ULIS DE VASSY sprouted wings on the run-in and got up near the finish. He came back to form when last seen in December and was chucked in on his old form. It wouldn't be surprising to see him follow up if faced with a stiffer finish next time.

Skipping On Wins at Towcester

Laura informs the Press

Skipping On broke his duck over fences yesterday at a muddy Towcester Racecourse. Given a fine ride by Conditional Jockey Patrick Cowley, he seemed to relish the attritional conditions and strode away on the run in for a convincing victory.

He may turn out next week at Sedgefield where he will escape  a penalty for yesterdays win.

SKIPPING ON came away inside the final furlong and belatedly opened his account. The ex-Irish 9yo has had his problems and this wasn't a stern jumping test on his second outing over regulation fences, which definitely helped his cause. However, such ground evidently holds no fears and he's due to head to Sedgefield next week where he can race off the same mark.

Last month at Leicester, The New Pharaoh (pictured on the right) put in a gutsy performance to win a valuable novice hurdle under Jonjo O’Neill jnr.

THE NEW PHARAOH, third to a useful sort on his hurdles debut, was down 4f in trip and fitted with a first-time hood. His extra stamina was a big help under these conditions, coming away late despite a mistake. He looks a fair sort who should have more to offer, especially in handicaps.
